Let’s end day 12 with a look at our two oldest riders: Jaap and Klaus reached the top of Fichtelberg today and made some progress towards CP3 afterwards. They stay in Satzung today and will close in on CP3 tomorrow.
Unfortunately we have two more scratches: Norbert and Carsten had to go off-track today to Bautzen in order to pick up some new brakepads. They are now camped somewhere at the track but decided to go to Cottbus tomorrow and return back home. We assume that they ran out of time to finish the route but will let you know as soon as we know more.
This leaves us with 12 still going: Somewhere ahead of Klaus and Jaap Nebo should move towards CP3 or should be there already. He stayed somewhere near Seiffen last night. We heard from Dieter for the first time in a few days. He ticked of CP3 yeaterday and clocked a few more miles. He should have reached the flats today and should be somewhere behind Martijn who came very close to CP4 today.
Jakob and Björn came across CP4 today. They are now very close to the point where Björn had to quit last year. We all keep our fingers crossed that he makes it to the finish this year. We suppose Wolfgang to be somewhere between them and Martijn but don’t know.
Tim and Thoralf slept inside yesterday in Forst which proved to be a wise decision because it has obviously been a very wet and stormy night. After a good rest they made it across CP4 and cought up with Alex again. Looks like Alex spent quite a difficult night bivying in Reicherskreuzer Heide but he is still dedicated to push through it. Looks like the three of them spent the night in Rüdersdorf near Berlin with less than 400km to go. They will make it!
Somewhere ahead of them is Thomas. If everything goes well for him he should make it across the Peene ferry tomorrow and maybe finish Saturday. We will keep you informed.
