Day 11 was a very busy one. Jaume and Giorgio have been in the focus today and it was very exciting!
Yesterday Jaume felt that it would be better to carry on in touring mode but today he obviously felt much better and pedaled the remaining 250km to the finish line in one impressive push. He is our 4th place finisher after 10 days 14 hours 17 minutes. Congratulations again!
We had not heard from Giorgio for a while and were hoping that he finishes today, too. But obviously the sandy roads in Brandenburg gave him a hard time and he was also running out of time to make it back to Italy in time. So he called it a race and pedalled to Berlin. Just to prove that the world is a village he ran into our friend Thomas there, who posted his pic.
In the meantime Thomas G. is going strong and passed CP4 before noon today. Alex fell back behind Tim and Thoralf for a while but kept on fighting and came across CP4 today, too. Tim and Thoralf called it a day a few miles before CP4.
Jakob and Björn also checked into CP3 and are rested in a pilgrim hostel. Carsten and Norbert also checked off CP3 and most probably also Wolfgang although we have not heard from him for a while. Martijn posted from CP3, too and is going strong.
Still no news from Dieter but good news from Nebo who made it across Fichtelberg and a good way towards Ebsandsteingebirge. Hopefully his knee problems are cured.
Jaap and Klaus are back on the track. They passed CP2 today. We are aware that they shortcut part of the route on their way back from Hof so their finish will be an inofficial one. But they are aware of this, too, and don’t care about it because for two guys aged 67 and 68 this is a major achievement anyway.
